I’ve been investing for 15 years.
Here are 10 simple money truths I've learnt over the years:
1: Losing money hurts more than making money feels good.
2. Bear markets must be welcomed, but most people still freak out when they occur. Me included.
3: Handling volatility in theory is easier than handling it in reality.
4: Getting your personal finances in order is more important than debating about what stock to buy.
5: Most investors will do well dollar cost averaging into index funds.
6: Mindfulness is an important skill to learn to do well in investing, and by extension, life.
7. When stock prices are going up, investors wish for a bear market. When a bear market eventually comes, investors wish for it to end. Immediately.
8. You don't have to chase after the "shiny" stocks. Boring is good.
9. "Make money, spend less than you earn, invest simply, and wait patiently" is the most underrated financial advice ever.
10. Timing the market is really futile. Time in the market > timing the market.
